About Us... Scherr's Cabinet and Doors, Inc.

Scherr's Cabinet and Doors, Inc. manufactures cabinet doors, dovetail drawer boxes and cabinet box component parts. These products are sold to small to mid size cabinet shops, contractors/builders and individuals we passionately refer to as "Weekend Wood-Warriors". Scherr's will sell retail to individuals but also offers trade discounts to licensed contractors/builders and established cabinet shops.

Scherr's offers a convenient and dependable source for cabinet doors and drawer fronts for many individuals who demand more that just a top-notch cabinet door. Every door manufactured is in direct response to our Customer's needs. You can create any desired effect using a broad range of door and drawer front designs, edge profiles and wood species available. Since each order is a custom order, we do not stock finished items or have stock sizes. Scherr's offers over 135 door and drawer front styles in a combination of solid wood and plywood core panels and currently introducing several one-piece MDF (medium density fiberboard) designs now available.

Scherr's also offers solid wood dovetail drawer boxes in your choice of 1/2" or 5/8" thick drawer sides. The dovetail drawers are available with several options including unassembled, assembled or assembled and finished. For interior drawer pull-outs we can also cut out a scoop pull on the front.

Scherr's also offers a line of RTA (ready-to-assemble) cabinets or if you would prefer, we can assemble the cabinets for you. When we set out to design our cabinet program we kept in mind a certain group of people – woodworkers and carpenters. The cabinets are designed to be assembled by an individual who has a basic understanding of typical woodworking practices. While the cabinets are easy to assemble, do not confuse what we offer with what you would see at a discount home center. Our cabinets are top-of-the-line quality, we do not cut corners!

During the mid 1970's Anton Scherr started his own cabinet business in an oversized garage. The summer of 1978 the current building we are in was purchased and Anton's son Wayne joined the business. In the early 80's another son, Leon, joined in the business. The original building was 2560 square feet and has been added on to four times since the purchase. Scherr's also purchased a warehouse and property and has since expanded the warehouse facilities. Our current facility has grown to over 23,000 square feet with a current staff of 20.

Scherr's started out manufacturing custom cabinets serving the local Minot area and surrounding communities. In the mid 80's Scherr's started selling their cabinets through a network of dealers throughout North Dakota. At that time we were disappointed in the quality of solid raised panel doors we were purchasing for our own cabinets. The decision was made to purchase the necessary machinery and to manufacture our own doors. Scherr's started marketing custom solid wood doors throughout the state and in 1990 decided to market nationally. Scherr's currently advertises their products in five national magazines; Fine Woodworking, WoodShop News, Fine Homebuilding, Fine Cooking, and Inspired House.

All of the products manufactured by Scherr's Cabinet and Doors are regularly tested by us in the field. Each product continues to be made with the best materials, construction and design that we think is appropriate to the needs of our Customers. The products manufactured by Scherr's represent a solid value and delivers a fair return on the money invested.
